About Us

Our History

The Morehead Old Time Fiddler’s Convention was started by Brett Ratliff in 2005. Brett enlisted a variety of local, Old Time music enthusiasts and quickly the annual event was set in motion. Brett’s Old Time focus eventually led him away from the Morehead area to new challenges, more education, a lot more music playing.  The Convention turned into a Festival and continues to this day.

What We Do

Each summer, at the end of July, the Morehead Old Time Music Festival offers music contests, educational workshops, dancing, and camping. The festival is held on the Jaycee’s Farm, just east of Morehead city limits.

Incorporation

The Fiddler’s Convention became the Morehead Old Time Music Festival and is still managed by various locals of the Morehead, KY area. The managing body became incorporated, 501(c)(3), as Kentucky Old Time Music, Inc. As a not-for-profit event, the festival relies exclusively on volunteers.
